Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a child was hit by a vehicle. Police on scene reported the injured victim was in the westbound lanes of Palatine Road.

The vehicle that apparently hit the pedestrian — a silver 2006 Hyundai Sonata — came to a stop in the inside eastbound lane of Palatine Road. The Sonata was driven by a 53-year-old man from Bartlett.

The injured victim — a 5-year-old boy — was transported with life-threatening injuries to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Police blocked westbound Palatine Road between Winston Drive in Palatine and Kennicott Ave in Arlington Heights, and police blocked eastbound Palatine Road between Winston Drive and Route 53 for an extended accident investigation.

Westbound Palatine Road was backed up and congested to about Schoenbeck Road or Route 83 and points east.

Police were working the extended accident investigation/accident reconstruction operation until at least 815 p.m. Monday.

The 5-year-old boy, who was hit by a car on Palatine Road about 4:15 p.m. Monday, died at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago at 1:26 a.m. The boy was transported by Palatine Fire Department firefighter/paramedics to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. He was transported in critical condition by a medical transport helicopter to Lurie Children’s Hospital on Monday evening.

No citations have been issued by police, and the crash remains under investigation. A detailed investigation included aerial photographs using a fire department ladder truck, pictures of homes on the north side of Palatine Road, measurements of the width of the sidewalk, and the routine marker measurements along the roadway of the accident scene.

Witnesses reported the boy was walking alone and was not crossing in a crosswalk when he was hit. The vehicle that hit the boy was eastbound on Palatine Road and was stopped in the median lane about 600 feet east of the intersection of Palatine Road and Winston Drive.

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:46 PM Monday to a report of crash with injuries at 46 East Palatine Road Palatine, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that car hit a building and one person was unconscious. A later report stated the driver was up and walking outside the car.

Palatine’s Fire Battalion Chief upon arrival reported a car completely into the building.

Firefighter/paramedics reported no entrapment and apparently no contact with a support wall.

Paramedics were immediately assessing the driver. A search of the building found no other patients.

The building involved is a strip mall with a glass storefront.

Ambulance 82 crew on arrival reported a 2-year-old child was hit and run over by a car at the scene.

Ambulance 84’s crew and Squad 85’s crew were both returned.

Ambulance 82 was transporting their patient by 6:15 p.m. to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

A female driver in the victim’s car was injured.

The offending vehicle was described as a white Chevy Cruze with heavy front-end damage and now missing the front license plate.

The vehicle was last seen eastbound on Palatine Road.

Illinois State Police and Palatine firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:40 AM Sunday to a report of rollover crash with injuries at 42.108294, -88.002906 (Route 53 And Palatine Rd Arlington Heights, IL). Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a vehicle was rolled over on the ramp and a light pole was down on the ramp from northbound Route 53 to eastbound Palatine Road.

One young adult male driver remained in a minivan, but was able to get out of the vehicle on his own power with help of firefighter/paramedics.

Crews on the scene helped the driver climb out a door opening, after making sure that live wires from a downed light pole did not endanger the driver.

The driver was not transported to the hospital by paramedics.

Rolling Meadows firefighter/paramedics also responded to the scene.

ComEd responded immediately to cut the live power lines that were exposed at the base of light pole.

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:19 AM Thursday to a report of a crash with injuries at Williams Drive And Sanborn Drive Palatine, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a crash into a tree with people trapped in the car.

Police were first on the scene and reported four patients. The vehicle with heavy damage was located on the southwest corner of the T-intersection of Williams Drive and Sanborn Drive. Firefighter/paramedics went to work extricating two patients from the vehicle after finding three patients in the car, and one injured person outside the car.

Extrication of all patients from a Toyota Echo was completed by 1:45 a.m.

A total of four patients were transported to Northwest Community Hospital. The extent of each patient’s injuries was unknown.

Just over a year ago on Tuesday December 16, 2014, a rollover crash occurred on a curve on Sanborn Drive about one block east of the intersection with Williams Drive.

Car vs Metra train crash with no injuries reported immediately after the crash on Palatine Road, just east of Plum Grove Road, Palatine

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:28 PM Wednesday to a report of a crash involving a car and a Metra train at the Metra UP Northwest Line and Plum Grove Road, Palatine, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics on the scene at 3:31 p.m. discovered a Honda Civic with minor rear end damage spun around on the south side of the Union Pacific Northwest Line tracks at Plum Grove Road.

The female motorist received minor injuries, was treated at the scene and refused transportation to the hospital.

Palatine Road and Plum Grove Road were blocked during investigation and cleanup at the crash scene. Brockway Street was not blocked. Firefighters also worked to confirm that train traffic was halted in the area.

Even after a slow acceleration from the train station about feet away, the train required about 430 feet to stop after hitting the car.

The point of impact was about 1,300 feet away from the Palatine train station. The accident is under investigation by the Palatine Police Department.

A total of 18 firefighters, staffing two engine companies, two ladder companies, one rescue squad, and two ambulances responded to the scene along with three command officers. An engine from the Rolling Meadows Fire Department was among the responding companies as part of an automatic aid agreement. The Palatine Police Department aided with traffic and crowd control. Representatives from the Metra Police Department, Metra, and Union Pacific Railroad were also assisting on the scene.

Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a vehicle crashed into a pole. Palatine police arrived first and may have discovered the crash in the westbound lanes of Dundee Road.

The first Palatine Fire Department crew arrived on the scene at 1:59 a.m. and reported a single-vehicle crash with major damage, possibly with a rollover, and one person trapped in the vehicle. The call was immediately upgraded to an entrapment response.

Paramedics transported one patient to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital by about 2:35 am. A total of 11 firefighters working on crews from one engine company, Tower Ladder 85, Squad 85 and Ambulance 84 and Ambulance 82 were under command of Palatine’s Battalion Chief during the rescue operation.

The crash is under investigation by the Palatine Police Department. The Major Case Assistance Team is also investigating the crash.

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:26 PM Sunday to a report of crash with injuries at 801 East Dundee Road Palatine, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a car crashed into the Dunkin’ Donuts.

Palatine’s fire crew on arrival reported one vehicle into the building — out investigating.

Two people from the Lexus sedan were transported to Northwest Community Hospital. No customers inside Dunkin’ Donuts were injured.

The Dunkin’ Donuts was evacuated for safety, and re-opened about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:23 PM Monday to a report of crash with injuries near Delta Sonic car wash, 1245 East Dundee Road Palatine, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a bicyclist hit by a vehicle in front of Delta Sonic car wash.

The patient had apparent serious injuries.
